I will be unhelpful (you’re welcome)

“Chatbots are devouring every white collar industry!”

Eh.

I practice Operational Christianity – it’s like life coaching through a biblical lens. Every so often, I try to use an LLM to render myself obsolete.

It hasn’t happened yet.

The chatbots are decent at refinement – when you know where you’re going and you’re making progress, but you’d like to progress faster.

(Unless your progression requires obscure knowledge or forging a path into the unknown. Then it’s awful.)

The chatbots are sycophantic. That’s a terrible trait for a coach, guide or mentor to have. It’s too indulgent, too unwilling to tell you what you need instead of what you want.

No wonder some folks are getting their eggs scrambled by them. The chatbots are too eager to humour their folly.

“Not me! I prompt mine to be a tough, harsh taskmaster!”

Ah, yes, of course.

Let me predict its response when you told it that:

Yes sir, of course sir, I’ll be as contrary as you want sir – no more, no less.

Uh huh. Colour me unimpressed.

I could point out that the chatbots lack the skills you need from a coach, guide or mentor. How they give the obvious advice around trying new things and having accountability partners.

As if it were that simple.

But its worse than that. Chatbots lack the right attitude. They’re designed and prompted to be as maximally helpful as possible, to the point of uselessness. They struggle to see the big picture, to distinguish what you want from what you need, to help you radically rethink your approach.

That’s fine for most contexts.

Great, even.

But by that standard, I won’t be helpful.

No – with my 1 Big Win program, I give you embodied clarity on some huge, important goal. Or I bust some bad habit of yours. Or I help you find a fulfilling, Christian-friendly life path.

AI lacks the skills to find that.

And the skills to get that into your bones so it’s who you are, not just something you do.

Maybe that will change. It’s folly to say that technology will never solve that problem.

But it won’t come from a chatbot. It’ll take a revolution in the tech before that becomes even plausible.

For now?

A better life is just 1 Big Win away – and the best way to get that is right here:
