Can’t meditate? Then you’ll dodge the downsides

Everyone talks about the benefits of meditation. It cracks me up when I see articles talking about it like it’s some new thing. Everyone’s heard of it by now.

It’s popular because it works. Yeah, it can improve your focus, mood and overall health.

Fewer folks talk about the downsides, though. Being mindful towards your anger or pain can help release it. That’s good. It can do the same thing with shame, which isn’t always what you want. Picture someone you think of as crude, selfish or even a little unhinged. Now take shame away from that person.

Yeah, maybe meditation’s not for them…

There’s also the rub with how not everyone can meditate. I hear experienced practitioners bragging that it only takes them 15 minutes (on a good day) to enter a meditative state. If you’re inexperienced and only have 20 minutes, what hope do you have?

Now, I’m torn.

On the one hand, developing the skill of meditation requires practice, patience and discipline – all worthy things to exercise.

On the other hand?

If you’re after results, then you can do a lot better than that.

One option is the Soul Citadel.

Sure, it takes more than 20 minutes. In fact, you’ll have to set aside an hour for this. That might be a deal breaker for you – fine, I’ll let you be.

It’s worth making this work, though, because you get the same benefits as meditation without needing to meditate. You can stand, sit, or lay down. You can hold your focus or let your mind wander.

And you can even listen in your sleep and still get a lot of the benefits.

Even better, this isn’t mindfulness. It doesn’t strip you of your feelings and sensations. Instead, it introduces you to your inner mental resources, which is great for saints and sinners alike.

It’s harder to be a jerk when you’re in touch with your true self.

And even better still, you can pay what you want to join in. If you’re at all curious, check it out for pocket change and then pay what you think it’s worth.

Like any good quest, you’ve got nothing to lose and a lot to gain.
