Sleep is when you rest your body and allow it to repair itself.
But what does your brain do during this?
It sure as manure isn’t resting. It’s churning, processing, consolidating, dreaming, remembering, forgetting and assessing. Brain activity doesn’t drop during sleep, it just changes.
So you can’t exercise your body while you sleep – it’s healing and recovering.
But exercise benefits your brain, too – and you can get some of those benefits even as you nap.
Now, I don’t necessarily recommend this. You get more from the quest to the Soul Citadel when you focus on the experience.
So it’s not the best approach to join the quest and then sleep through it.
But it’s not the worst approach, either. You’ll get many and different benefits of the quest if you listen while dozing or even deeply passed out.
This is especially true after your first few quests and you learn what to expect.
I get it – sometimes you’re just damn tired and you need a sleep in. When that happens, don’t skip the quest. Join in. That’s a lot better than doing nothing.
You might just find yourself waking up with more energy, focus, confidence, clarity and drive. It’s possible that you’ll even be healthier and stronger too – that doesn’t always happen but it’s possible.
That and you might enjoy some rather strange dreams.
I make no guarantees here. If you’re not paying attention, then whatever happens isn’t on me.
But the quest for the Soul Citadel isn’t like a lecture on post-colonial mathematics. The quest is exactly the sort of thing your brain can absorb even when you’re sleeping.
You’ll soon learn that the quest might seem simple but is deeply strange, profound and powerful.
The next step in that direction is to register for this month’s quests here:
