Quietly and without celebration, AI has crept into a bunch of tools.
Email providers offer to write subject lines – even whole emails – at a button’s caress.
Web hosting platforms do the same with meta descriptions and articles – even sales letters.
What’s the point of that? I guess this is for folks who are too lazy to go to Bard or ChatGPT and ask for it there.
Goodness gladius.
If you’re outsourcing dull, tedious work to AI – fine. I just hope you have a good eye for detail and a solid definition of tedious. Because it’ll start with getting help with the occasional subject line. Then you’ll have it write your social media posts. Before you know it, it’s coming up with all your ideas for you.
Then you’re screwed.
Creativity is a muscle. Let it atrophy and you’ll struggle to rebuild it. You’ll come to rely on AI for everything, even as your rivals use superior human ingenuity to overtake you. Even as the AI training sets become polluted with the outputs of other AIs, leading to degeneration like a royal family’s inbred bloodline.
Technology has replaced the need to hunt and gather. Now, most of us wouldn’t last a month in the woods alone.
I’m okay with that.
Maybe you are too, maybe not.
But are you okay with hobbling your unique thinking the same way?
Are you okay with taking your genius and letting it atrophy like a beer-addicted couch potato, yelling at the TV and unable to stand without groaning?

A lot of folks are sleepwalking into disaster, thinking they’re riding the wave of the future. Some of them are using this technology intelligently. Others are letting their thinking fade – they’ll be the first to succumb to the tides.
