Scatterbrained writing strategies

Creativity can defeat itself.

After all, you can dream up an amazing idea for a book, a product or a sales letter. It shines in your mind, a true testament to what you can accomplish.

You get started, filled with enthusiasm.

But then, barely having started, your mind begins to wander. You begin to think of new ideas. Shiny ideas. Ideas so luring and tempting that you can’t look away.

You might put your current project to the side. You might come back to it later. Maybe not. Either way, this new idea is so much better that it makes sense to prioritise it.

Uh huh.

Sure thing, lion.

Until, what do you know, another new idea begins wriggling its way into your mind.

What do you do?

Obviously, chasing every half-baked impulse that enters your mind is a losing strategy. You’ll never get anything done that way.

But ignoring new ideas to focus on your current project trains you to… well, to ignore new ideas.

That’s a losing strategy.

The winning strategy?
