The bold and the crave

Cravings are funny things.

Sometimes I crave cauliflower and sometimes I crave pizza.

Sometimes I crave zoning out in front of trashy TV and sometimes I crave prayer.

It’s the same word each time.

And it’s a similar feeling. Except it isn’t. It’s a subtle difference, but it’s unmistakable. When I crave something that’s good for me, it hits differently.

It’s different when I ignore the craving, too. A bad craving tends to flare up, feeling so intense and then fading quickly. Wholesome cravings simmer in the background, getting stronger until I satisfy them.

Maybe you can relate.

Or maybe you can’t. Some folks feel good and bad cravings the same way – or they think they do. And some never crave anything that’s good for them – or they think they don’t.

Whatever the case, reflecting on how you crave things can only help for Lent.

I’m running a call on Ash Wednesday for us men to hang out, enjoy some brotherhood and learn some useful skills for this time of year. And all the other times too. Specifically, you’ll learn:

  • how to use an overrated mental health “technique” (associated with decreased remorse and impulse control) to pop sinful desires,
  • why treating Lent as a business plan might be your best approach,
  • zoning out for fun and profit,
  • the neurological condition – which you can learn – that automatically brings your intentions and actions into better alignment,
  • why visualisations are for suckers and what to do instead.

If any of that sounds useful – or you just want to hang out for a while – then join at the link below.
