Imagine a guy built like Hercules – 6’5”, muscular and with a jawline that needs a permit.
He sounds strong, right?
Now imagine a toddler runs up to him and punches him as hard as the little tyke can in the leg.
Our towering specimen can react in a few ways.
Genuine terror. (Play acting as scared is one thing, but this guy means it.) He cowers from the child, begging for mercy and for someone to save him.
Anger. He loses his cool, yelling and threatening to retaliate against the toddler with his full force.
Both of those look different, yet both are absurd weakness.
If our man here really is strong, he’ll say something like, “What are you doing there, champion?”
Now let’s turn our gaze towards the culture.
Men watched The Force Awakens in ridiculous numbers. That mediocre movie broke two billion dollars. No one cared that the leading trio were all “diverse” – men just wanted to see a good story.
Things are a bit different now. After years of hearing directors overtly say they want to strip white men out of their projects and audiences, men are now more alert to woke nonsense in movies. You don’t even have to go back ten years to find a time where people didn’t care that much about it.
You could attack men in your fiction and men would just shrug.
But you can’t treat other groups this way. Set a story in 14th Century France and the wokies will get furious if there are only white people. Where are the Asians? Why no trans??
Men are getting weaker but are still stronger.
In Christian countries, you can parade around saying Jesus was trans, Satan deserves worship and the church is evil. You can do this because Christianity is strong enough to let you attack it.
Try the same thing in an Islamic country.
Actually, for legal reasons, don’t try that. Insufficiently supporting Islam can get you in serious trouble.
That’s because Islam is weak enough to need force to back it up.
Overreacting is a sign of delicateness – a need to appear strong because you aren’t. And no one overreacts like a wokie or a Muslim.
