A villain’s advice on fighting Evil

Whenever I talk about Why You Should Fight Evil, things tend to get heavy.

Of course it does. This has a lot of weight. What could be bigger than fighting Evil?

That said, one of fiction’s biggest villains – the Joker – expresses it best:

“Why so serious?”

He’s right. I should loosen up about this.

Yeah, this battle matters. That’s the point. The fight against Evil is far too important to be taken seriously.

I’m only so intense about this because you need to get into the fight. For our sake. For your own. Just do it, however you can help.

Once you’re in the fight, though?

Well, then your focus should be on staying in the fight. And a great way is to make resisting Evil fun and satisfying.

If it involved literally slaying demons, there’d be no issue. As gruesome as that sounds, it also sounds deeply cathartic.

Oh well. You’ll just have to turn your own quest for spiritual excellence into a game.

By hunting your own sin, weakness and folly.

Or designing your own Iron Man suit – like the Armour of God as described in Ephesians 6.

Or by turning this into a roleplaying game. Even character creation can be fun. What stats and feats do you need to be heroically righteous?

It’s up to you to figure out how to make it a game.

In the meantime, here’s the player’s handbook:
