“You need to work harder. But, also, you need to relax more.”
“This is stale and derivative. Also, you’re neglecting the foundations.”
“Cheer up and take this more seriously.”
The weird thing about life is often the best advice is paradoxical. You need to move forward and back, up and down, and left and right all at once.
There’s an art to living life like this, pulling away from the compromise of the centre towards every other direction at once.
I had to use this art during my recent Mt Shasta trip. My intention was to have the group tune into the moment, broaden their senses and attend to the outside world.
And my tool for this was hypnosis – famous for getting people to close their eyes and shift their attention inwards.
So I had people zone out and focus, while paying attention inwardly so they could pay attention to the outside.
That only sounds difficult if you’ve never done it. In fact, like so much of life, it’s easy to go in two opposite directions at once.
The harder part is often staying still.
Because the life of your dreams is likely on the other side of paradox. You’ll get there by working harder and resting more, by innovating more and by sticking to what works, by being more optimistic and more pessimistic…
The road to success is by doing what seems self-defeating.
Of course, striking the right balance isn’t easy. A roadmap helps. And a roadmap is exactly what you get with your 1 Big Win.
You’re a 90-minute session away from having superb clarity on what you need to do and how you need to do it.
