History tells us what to do next

1st Century Christians were a persecuted sect within a persecuted sect. Their main enemies were one of the largest, most powerful empires in history. And the won, decisively, in a few short centuries.

Imagine you didn’t know the story already. How would you think they did it? Not through force, for they were wildly outclassed. Not through money, for they weren’t the wealthiest.

It would take a miracle.

And that’s what they got. Each servant of God, each martyr, each hero, each Good person is a miracle. A few generations of Christians being the best people around was all it look to conquer an unconquerable empire.

Charlie Kirk must have understood this. By all accounts, he treated his friends with incredible respect, generosity and kindness. He treated his political “enemies” as Good but misguided people, reachable if you reach out with a firm yet loving message.

He was a better man than I am. I put up walls. If you like what I can do and I think you’ll benefit from it, then you can come in. If not, stay away. The thought of going into public to debate the deluded sounds exhausting.

Yet that’s what Jesus tells us to do. It’s what Charlie did. It’s why he was so successful and so feared – he used proven tactics that win souls but could lead to you being tossed to the lions.

What a legacy to live up to. It won’t be easy, but that’s no reason not to. The Christian’s duty is to bear the cross with grace and dignity. If this is part of our burden, then so be it. Let’s carry it well.

No call to action today. You know what you need to do.
