The internet is lousy with advice on how to appear more confident.
Most of it boils down to pretending you have your manure together.
Dress well – so you can pretend you have a great job.
Stand up straight – to pretend you command respect.
Be decisive – as if you actually know what you’re doing.
These can all help, but the best way to feel more confident isn’t to fake it. It’s to cultivate it, practice it, harness it and amplify it.
Because everyone naturally feels confident every day.
“Not me. I can’t remember the last time I felt anything but on edge.” Oh? Are you currently in the fetal position, rocking back and forth as you bury your face in your hands, screaming at the top of your lungs?
No – if you were, you wouldn’t be reading this.
So if you could be more anxious than this, then you must be feeling at least some confidence.
You know what the word means – what it feels like.
It’s already there in your muscles, just waiting for you to experience it.
That’s why The Virtus Path entrains calm focus into your muscles. The expression is it’s like riding a bike for a reason. Once it’s in your body, you can always remember it.
At the end of the Path is a damn useful state of mind – one that transmutes anxiety into a host of better things.
And it used your muscle memory so it’s always there. There’s no escaping from it. You might get a little rusty at it if you neglect it, but you’ll never forget it.
Imagine that. If you struggle with anxiety, you’re clearly good at clinging onto emotions for a while.
So why not learn to cling to something more useful?
You can learn how by reading The Virtus Path and doing all the exercises:
