Remember The Matrix?
There’s a part of that movie I love. The story does a great job of establishing the agents as threats. You can’t beat them in a fistfight. They’re fast enough to dodge bullets.
All you can do is run.
Then Neo comes along, bringing the promise that an ordinary human can overpower them.
How amazing that must have been. Agents were pure death, pure destruction and pure evil. You’re not supposed to be able to defeat them. Learning that someone else can must have been a revelation.
Neo, doing a bullet-time limbo, moves faster than anyone has ever moved. He dodged bullets just as agents do.
It’s enough of a distraction for Trinity to shoot an agent from point blank.
“Dodge this.”
There’s a nice allusion to Jesus there, whether it was intentional or not. Christ can defeat death – therefore, so can you.
And there’s a nice life lesson for you.
“Oh no, I can’t defeat my adversaries. They can dodge bullets!”
Then shoot them from such short range that they can’t dodge.
Is it that easy? Obviously not. You could be strong, fast and cunning, and still fail. A little luck would go a long way.
But it’s possible. That’s the point. Agents weren’t unbeatable – you just had to fight them differently.
It’s a simple lesson. It’s an obvious one. But if it’s so obvious, then why have you forgotten it?
How quickly the Red Pill movement changed from here’s how to get a girl, even in this modern age to waaah modern girls are bad so I’ll be single forever! Red Pill turned into MGTOW, even though they’re opposites. Red Pill is about ownership, improvement and doing what works. MGTOW is defeatism.
MGTOWers blame society for corrupting women. What do you call the voluntary mass dissolution of the family unit? Isn’t MGTOW going to make things worse?
“Why should I get with a 304 who can steal half my assets when she gets bored?”
Why should you fight agents, even though they can dodge bullets?
Sometimes, a man needs to do things that are difficult. He needs to take smart risks and figure out how to win, even with the odds stacked to the other side.
Whatever your purpose, whatever you call peace, you’ll get more of that with the right relationship.
Part of that means being secure in yourself. It means flexibility with everything except your purpose and principles. Those, you protect with iron.
You’ll stand out from a crowd of boys in men’s bodies, eager to betray who they are and adapt to women at the mere promise of a kiss.
The right woman will see your strength and crave to be part of your life.
Now, there’s more to a happy and successful relationship than just having convictions. You’ll need to learn a lot – some of it beforehand, some of it on the fly.
But without principles, boundaries and conviction, the rest are just empty techniques.
And it’s hard to have those things and anxiety at the same time.
Anxiety makes you vulnerable to influence. It undermines your boundaries, allowing anyone with a stern look to tell you what you think and believe.
That ain’t good for you.
That’s why I recommend walking The Virtus Path. Feeling more relaxed, secure and sure in your own skin helps with everything, including and especially the difficult and the impossible.
