There’s a quaint British program called Escape to the Country. 

It’s a reality show where middle-aged Britons try to buy some old, enormous estate in the English countryside.  

After living somewhere like London for years, I’m sure the countryside is a literal breath of fresh air.  

I don’t hate this. 

In fact, I think more folks should live like this. 

That said… 

There’s a YouTuber named the Redeemed Zoomer who talks a lot about retreatism.  

It’s the idea that many conservatives – political or religious – embrace. 

Is your church pushing a trans-friendly agenda? Find a better church! 

Are universities indoctrinating people into Marxism! Drop out! 

Is your city a festering mass of crime and blue voters? Leave for the countryside! 

This is Good, to a point. By all means, protect yourself and your family. 

But don’t think the wokies will hate this. 

It’s like all those memes where ugly women threaten to without casual intimacy. That threat is no threat and that punishment is no punishment. 

Wokies want to hijack established churches, the education system and the cities. They want their enemies to flee to their own spaces. That gives them free reign to do whatever messed up things they want. 

See what they’ve done even with limited influence. With total influence, things would fall apart fast. 

So we need to make choices here. 

Some of us need to retreat from these corrupt systems. This is the safer option, but by no means easy. It’s a choice that requires sacrifice and hardship – one that allows families to thrive and children to grow up in the best environment. 

And some of us need to counterinfiltrate education, entertainment and governance. We need to return to the centres of power and reestablish Truth, Goodness and Beauty to the heart of culture.  

I wonder how many of us are braver, clever and hardworking enough to counterinfiltrate. It’s not for the delicate. You need to work so hard and be so likeable that you keep your influence despite the pressures to go woke.

I’m a Christian who believes in the theory of evolution. God using evolution to create humans fits His character, plus it fits the evidence better than Young Earth Creationism or Natural Selection.

Overheard recently, someone was talking about all the reasons they think creationism is the Truth. 

Their mate pointed out a… uh… “flaw” in evolution: 

“If life evolves from rocks, then why isn’t their life on Mars?” 

Instead of the first guy appreciating the spirit of his argument but calling it brain damaged to the point of physical pain, he said that was a great point. 

No. 

No, that’s a terrible point. 

Saying “life can evolve from rocks under certain conditions” is a plausible (if simplistically worded) claim. Saying it evolves from every rock in the universe is different, wrong and something no one suggests. That’s such a ridiculous category error that no one would make in any other context: 

“People can build skyscrapers!” 

“What, so you’re saying that EVERYONE can ONLY build skyscrapers?! How ridiculous!” 

Being right isn’t enough. 

Siding with the Truth isn’t enough.  

You can’t use bad arguments to defend your position and you can’t accept it when lunatics happen to be on your side. 

Just because someone is on the right side, that doesn’t make them a Good and skilled soldier. Incompetent allies can be worse than talented enemies.

It’s a funny thing.

On X (nee Twitter) I mostly follow Christians, plus a few entertainers.

Even so, my feed is wildly political.

Of course it is. It’s also full of funny animals doing funny things, life hacks and interaction bait. The algorithm pushes what gets engagement.

The politics of those I follow learns libertarian and conservative.

Even so, about half of the politics I see is leftist.

This isn’t like Tumblr’s main page, where it only posts conservative content as part of a wokie “debunking” it. It’s genuinely leftist comments.

And among those I see is “waaaaah Elon made Twitter a conservative hellhole!”

Uh huh. It must seem like that to someone who’s never seen a conservative post in the wild before.

“That’s still just tricking you into engaging! It posts stuff you agree with for the likes, then stuff you disagree with for the rage!” Well, no one tell Facebarf that. Zucky settled for building boring echo chambers.

Also, I’m a mid-Millennial, born in the late 1980s. I remember the original promise of the internet: “anyone can share anything, and only the smartest content will rise to the top!” Heh. How optimistic that turned out to be.

But Community Notes fulfills that promise.

But you won’t. It “doesn’t affect you negatively” because “you’re smart enough to use it right”.

A classic atheist argument is:

“What if God came down from the heavens and told you you’re wrong about religion? What then?”

The question is a decent trap.

If you would change your mind because God told you to, then your faith isn’t absolute. There are conditions where you would abandon it.

If you would cling to your faith despite God telling you otherwise, then you’re a stubborn fool and your faith isn’t even about God.

As I say, it’s decent. Not great, but I appreciate the effort.

I wonder how Jews and Muslims answer this question. The best answer I have to this comes from St Paul’s letters, so I don’t know what they’d do.

What Paul says is simple, really.

Handing over to the apostle for a moment:

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed. 

Galatians 1:8 (RSV)

If a man preaches a different gospel – even if that man is me – then he’s an accursed fool.

Even if an angel descends from heaven to give me a different gospel, then that’s no angel.

“Yeah but what if God Himself told you you’re wrong about Jesus?”

Then I’d book in for a brain scan because I probably have a problem in there.

Seriously. Paul spoke/wrote with the authority of the Holy Spirit. That means God Himself said there’s only one gospel and you already have it. He’s not going to then turn around and say to anyone, “Oh, by the way, Jesus had a twin sister you should be worshipping too, sorry I didn’t mention that”.

If God gave me a different gospel, then I couldn’t share it with anyone.

If no one can share it, then it’s not a gospel. It’s “the Good news”, not “an intriguing secret”.

Therefore, there’s no different gospel. No one can believe the Bible while wondering about its upcoming DLC and retcons.

But let’s focus on that Galatians quote again:

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed.

The apostles were ordinary men. All they did was answer the call when Jesus told them to follow Him.

Even so, the words they wrote reign supreme over even the angels.

The writings of Peter take it further:

… the good news to you through the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.

1 Peter 1:12 (RSV)

The angels want the gospel but don’t have it or can’t understand it.

This only makes sense if the gospels are the work of the Holy Spirit, which rules over the angels. No human work would be a mystery to them.

It also means you have something that not even angels do.

So treasure it.

If a dog vomited all over, say, a painting of the Virgin Mary, would you get mad?

I would – at myself. I shouldn’t have allowed that to come to pass.

A few days ago, I saw a tweet where someone said the Last Supper was Jesus proposing gay marriage to His apostles.

I’m not mad – that’s too foolish to get upset about.

It’s not that every anti-Christian sentiment is automatically foolish. No, seeing that as a proposal is a genuinely retarded thing.

People mock how blind Victorian-era fusspots were to sex. “Ah, yes, those two women who live together and only have one bed in the house. I wonder if they’re sisters.” I agree, that’s a level of wilful ignorance bordering on brain damage.

But the opposite of folly is folly.

Never seeing romantic love between bros is foolish.

Only seeing romantic love between them is worse. At least mateship and brotherhood are more common that gay lust.

This pops up everywhere. The Holy Bible talks about David and Johnathan, and the deep friendship they shared. They were closer than brothers.

Could they have been lovers? It’s possible, but I wouldn’t assume that. Take two men who are devoted and loyal to each other. Even today, they’re probably straight mates.

But then you get these retards. “Look, look, they enjoy each other’s company! Therefore they be boning!”

I even saw this once with the two main characters from Frozen.

You know. The sisters.

It’s pathetic and wilfully blind. It’s worthy of pity. Someone who assumes any love is romance has a broken view of love. And life.

They must be miserable and confused. It’s also creepy. If that’s how one sees the world, folks avoid that one.

So I’m not mad at anyone who says the Last Supper was like a marriage proposal. They’re probably just trolling, but to even get there requires a level of foolishness that bleeds over into other parts of their lives.

If you ask the wokies, this is because racist, homophobic, boring, stupid, ugly Star Wars fans couldn’t handle how stunning and brave it was, so Disney bowed down to accommodate their hatefulness.

An excellent theory. Disney is absolutely willing to cancel shows to appeal to bigots, but not make shows that appeal to them. Checks out.

Also, Star Wars fans also tend to like Terminator 1 and 2, Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, the Tom Holland Spider-man movies, the Spiderverse movies, the Tomb Raider franchise, Cobra Kai, Star Trek TOS and TNG, Arcane, Dune, Homeland, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Chosen, Wonder Woman, The Good Place, Stranger Things, Westworld, The Arrowverse, The Umbrella Academy, Orphan Black, Original Trilogy Star Wars, Rogue One and countless other examples.

Any one of those being popular with Star Wars fans contradicts the accusation.

But, hey, wokie arguments run on emotions and projections, not logic or evidence.

That’s why they so quickly say that fans hate those shows because of the diverse casting. That’s backwards. The diverse casting is the only reason wokies like it.

But it turns out, wokies make up a small audience, they’re impossible to please and they’re cheap communists so your advertising revenue from them is nil.

Oh well.

Maybe normal people will get quality entertainment again.

On social media, you see a lot of:

“If Trump wins, I’m going to have to flee the country. I’d be afraid for my life otherwise.”

Sometimes it’s a woman saying that, sometimes it’s a transfolk.

Both groups did fine – and in some cases, better – the last time Trump ran things. If he didn’t Handmaids Tale things up the first time, he won’t the second.

But since men decided to share the power, we’ve lived in a world where emotion beats evidence.

That’s not an answer, though. “They’re hysterical!” might not even be True. It certainly doesn’t explain why they fear this specifically.

Let’s unpack it a little, noting that humans are complex so this will obviously be an oversimplification.

First up, there’s projection. Surveys show that wokies support concentration camps for their political enemies more than the reverse. If they had all the military power – not just a lot of institutional power – they’d kill normal folks like you and I.

#Hashtag not all wokies!” Yeah, no doubt. I’ve met plenty of leftists – even transfolk and feminists – who’d happily leave me in peace. But do they want me to live in peace enough to stand up to the worst elements of their tribe?

Would collectivists stand up to authorities doing something they, deep down, want to happen, just because it’s morally right?

It takes a Christian or a Stoic to have that much moral character. Wokies are anti-Christian and they’re certainly anti-Stoic.

Secondly, wokies are professional victims. There’s no greater victim than one who fears for their lives on the daily.

Thirdly?

Well… they’re wrong, but they’re not completely wrong.

Wokies are afraid, which is sensible. Their worldview sees a regressive, hostile army of deranged lunatics who want to enslave or eradicate them.

That’s insane and incorrect. The last ten years, society as twisted itself into pretzels struggling to accommodate their contradictory demands. Meanwhile, they’re off to the side, weeping with rage as they shout “Twist harder! Anything less is genocide!”

Yeah.

Anything less than total cultural, political and military domination is oppression in their eyes.

Of course they’re scared.

Of course they fear the future.

Their whole philosophy requires perfect compliance, but it can’t get there. Even if everyone genuinely tried, wokie ideology smacks up against Truth, Goodness and Beauty too hard to stand.

It’s hard to spot these things in the moment, and this could be wishful thinking.

But I know Christian Nationalism is antifragile – history has proven it sticks, it lasts and it civilises.

Wokie ideology is fragile, though. That’s why it keeps changing – because it keeps dying.

I live in hope for the future. Things are likely to get rough for us, but Western ideals and common sense will rise again.

You can’t keep the transcendentals down. You’ll grind yourself or your civilisation to dust by trying.

Anyway, enough of that nonsense.

Whatever happens, it pays to focus on yourself.

And then do it all again the next day?

Some folks are great at being social media culture warriors. You probably aren’t.

So what you need is a more meaningful challenge.

A way to create real change, not just complain online.

You probably even know what that is, if you’re brave enough to admit it to yourself.

Understanding other people – friend and foe – are essential.
