Terrible advice:

“Do better!”

The sentiment is right – we can, and should, all do better. The trouble is social activists use this – and they’re vague, deranged hypocrites. By “do better”, they mean be less straight, less white, less smart, less coherent, less male and less just less.

It’s also directionless. With that as your mantra, you could justify – or condemn – anything.

Decent advice:

“Grow stronger!”

Much better – although it’s still vague, at least it gives you something to work with.

It eliminates huge tracts of foolish endeavours.

Activists talk a big game because talk is cheap. They’d rather lecture, complain and hypothesise than do anything themselves.

They might dare, on a good day, to utter this, but they’d never live by it.

Excellent advice:

… Train yourself in godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

And there you have it.

Grow emotionally, mentally and spiritually stronger.

Obviously, Jesus never said that or anything like it.

During His ministry, He impressed crowds and scholars with His leaning and wisdom. Even as a child, His visit to the temple left folks amazed. As an adult, He left them confused.

He hadn’t studied to be a rabbi, yet He could outreason them.

But while His scholarly knowledge impressed others, their knowledge never impressed Him.

Jesus praised the woman who healed herself with her faith, just by touching the hem of His robe.

And He praised the Roman who expressed pure faith in His abilities and divinity.

Don’t forget how the Gospel of Matthew ends – Jesus doesn’t say to study Him; He says to follow Him.

In His eyes, faith always trumps knowledge.

Now, knowledge still matters. If it didn’t, the gospels wouldn’t mention His so often.

But we all know folks who are all brain but no heart, no soul. It might be the Christian who has the Bible memorised but struggles to tell you what it means. It might be the chef who knows recipes, ingredients and techniques, but can only make merely technically perfect creations.

Study Christianity.

Learn it well.

But your priorities are to have faith, avoid sin, do Good works and grow your knowledge – in that order.

Even if you’re purely selfish and materialistic, the best thing you could do right now is pray and abstain.

Then again, it might just help you be a better version of yourself – the sort of person who finds prayer and abstinence easier.

I like a good casual board game.

Or something more complex. My all-time favourite is the Starcraft Board Game, which is plenty complex.

But things like Coup, Story War and Fluxx are good fun.

So when I say I don’t like Exploding Kittens, it’s not because it’s not my style. I like those sorts of games. Even The Oatmeal – the webcomic it’s based on – is okay at times.

It’s just a boring way to pass the time.

So colour me curious when they made an Exploding Kittens TV show.

The synopsis:

To better understand His creation, God is sent to Earth as a cat.

So it’s the premise of Christianity, only dumber and worse in every way. How like the modern world to casually mock the one True faith. They’re lucky Christians don’t retaliate the way Jews or Muslims would.

A shame – I could use a braindead, bingeable comedy. Not that I had high hopes for a modern animated show based off a bad card game based off a decent webcomic.

I’ll have to go back to my Bible for entertainment, I suppose. That’s one silver lining in this bleak era of fiction – it makes the older stuff look great.

Well, Merriam-Webster fell into an awkward place.

They tweeted something cutesy and fun:

“What language rule are you willing to die on a hill for?”

Or words to that effect.

They probably hoped for something about split infinitives or ending sentences with prepositions.

Instead, they deleted the tweet after folks came back with:

“Woman” means adult human female.

 How radical and controversial…

I’d almost defend the dictionary folks here. Dictionaries merely document language, not police it. If enough folks want to use a word wrong, the dictionary’s job is to document that.

Dictionaries reflect usage.

So it’s not their fault if they’ve noticed a new way of using “men” and “women”.

That’s a reasonable argument.

It falls apart when you realise that it means they have to listen and observe common usage.

Anyway, I think we’ve won here or something, because looking up “man” and “woman” in Merriam-Webster’s site now gives you good definitions:

Woman: (1a): an adult female person

Man: (1a1): an individual human; especially : an adult male human

And none of the definitions talked about identifying as anything.

So I don’t know what those tweets were about. Maybe their social media managers haven’t read a dictionary.

This is about as useful as any personality profiling quiz out there.

Don’t mistake me – I’m a huge fan of personality profiling. Spiral dynamics, enneagram, Myers-Briggs, the sociosexual hierarchy – I find it all fascinating.

But the utility mainly comes in analysing others and adapting your communication style.

Whatever value you get from self-analysis, you don’t need a quiz for. If mean, really, if you need  a questionnaire to tell you if you lean towards introversion or extraversion, I know where you sit in the smart-foolish dimension.

Forget quizzes. They don’t help you.

The real merit comes from studying psychology deeply enough that you understand the principles behind personality profiling systems. In fact, until you can invent your own system, you’ll only get so much from any you learn.

But you don’t need to muck around with any of that.

Coaching is much better than learning yet another personality profiling system. It’s quicker, easier and more valuable.

I’m a Christian nationalist.

A friend of mine – a Christian – said I should keep that to myself. It puts too many folks off base. People like secular globalism.

At least, they think they do.

“Christian nationalists are a threat to democracy!”

These would be the same folks who invented modern democracy, nurtured it and defended it with their blood. Meanwhile, we have foreigners pouring over our borders complaining about how we haven’t implemented Sharia law yet.

“Christian nationalists are a threat to feminism!”

The same Christianity that has revered women since the time of Jesus.

Who gave women better-than-equal rights under the law, allowing them to work when they demanded it.

Yeah, we don’t allow women to murder their own children. We also don’t allow women to murder their own parents, sisters, spouses or friends. No one has the right to kill – men sure don’t.

“Christian nationalists are a threat to the el-gee-bee crowd!”

And for that, you love the secular globalists.

Who flood our countries with illegals that are homicidally homophobic.

Secular globalism made so many promises.

Enlightenment, freedom, material wealth!

They’ve failed on every count. Enlightened? We’re drowning in a corrupted morality where everything is backwards – censorship is freedom of speech, cancelling politicians is democratic, having only brown people is diversity, a poor diet is healthy and pride is a virtue.

Freedom?

Oh, that we have. You can do more drugs than you used to. Meanwhile, they monitory your activity and purchases, and in some cases shut down your bank account for peacefully protesting.

(Never forget the Canadian trucker convoy.)

Material wealth? We all have much more advanced technology now, some of which is borderline miraculous. But why can’t so families afford houses or bread anymore?

Weird…

Nah, forget that. I stand with Christianity, the most civilising force in human history. And I stand with nationalism, the second-most civilising force in human history.

I already wrote an article exploring the woke philosophy.

It’s not “accepting folks for who they are”.

It’s not “putting women in movies”.

People have no issues with that. I mean, the Old Testament has plenty of both, let alone the cultural movements of the ‘80s, ‘90s and early 2000s.

No – the woke philosophy is all about believing a lie. That’s not strawmanning – it’s an appealing lie with some truth to it, but we all disprove it daily.

But misreading all of society – bad as that is – isn’t the full list of wokie folly. This last week revealed, clearer than ever, the other mental disorders that they own and flaunt.

1) Lack of nuance

I talk about this often because it shows up often.

The woke are incapable of seeing subtlety or shades of grey. They’re absolutists and they’re not even very good at it.

Disagree with one and you’re a racist or misogynist. Even if you’re a black woman. That’s how it works in their minds – folks exactly like them are good and everyone else is a bigot. This is obviously wrong but, hey, they’re not open to feedback at this time.

We’ve seen that this week. “Sure, I got you fired for wearing a red hat, but YOU got ME hired for making public death threats! Hypocrite!”

Yeah – something that bothers them and a stupid, evil crime are equivalent in their minds.

“No, it’s conservatives who lack nuance!”

Some, yeah. I’ve seen plenty of conservatives rally against the wave of firings hitting leftists. They think we should take the moral high ground here.

Maybe we should – I see the argument there. I agree with the idea of seizing the moral high ground, but I despise death threats. Folks threw them around far too casually before the internet. Now, no one is a person in anyone’s eyes – just a strawman entertainment commodity.

2) Low verbal intelligence

As Jordan Peterson pointed out between his weird slam poetry tweets, the best predictor of being woke is being a white woman with abysmal verbal intelligence.

They don’t know what words mean.

They don’t even know how words work.

When they call you a racist, they think that’s a clever argument that’ll force you to reflect on your ways. That’s why they fire off accusations of bigotry at random.

This explains the evolution of the trans narrative. “Trans women should be accepted” became “trans women are real women” which is becoming “trans women are biological women”.

It’s also why they think “a woman is anyone who identifies as a woman” makes sense. They can’t see the circular definition.

This also explains a lot of the death threats they make. Combine this with a lack of nuance, they see not liking Trump and wishing the bullet struck as the same thing. Both express distaste for him, right?

Pathetic. That’s why it’s so exhausting to argue with them. They can’t follow or use words, so they can’t follow or use logic.

“No, it’s conservatives with low verbal intelligence!”

Not according to the science. Besides, conservatives – get this – want to conserve things, including language. That means using words correctly. Try again.

3) Emotional instability

Enough said, right?

Wokies were furious that people didn’t blindly obey unscientific, tyrannical, arbitrary and psychologically corrosive social distancing laws. Then they got angry about racism and gathered in groups to burn cities down.

This, again, explains all the death threats. They’re angry and they can’t self-regulate.

“No, it’s conservatives who are emotionally unstable!”

This last week, Republicans have been angrier than I’ve ever seen them. They’re also heavily armed. Yet there’s been no rioting, no retaliation and no anarchy.

It turns out Republicans can be furious and civilised at the same time.

4) Projecting

Wokies assume everyone thinks like they do. It’s a pathetic waste of sentience.

Listen to them talk about what Trump will do if elected. Apart from it all being fiction – he didn’t do any of these things the first time around – it’s all stuff they want to do themselves.

“Trump will introduce racist and sexist laws!” they say, after passing laws to give advantages to women and minorities.

“Trump will round us up into camps!” they say, after calling for conservatives to be rounded up into camps.

“Trump is a threat to democracy and so should be removed from the ballot!” That one needs no extra context. The confession is right there.

Wokies hate conservatives because they think conservatives are as dumb, miserable and hateful as they are.

“No, it’s conservatives who project!”

Enough already, now you’re projecting projection.

Look at the stats – business owners and chairpeople are overwhelmingly Republican. People who get their hands dirty, from sparkies to neurosurgeons, strongly lean conservative too. Same with investors and realtors.

In those jobs, you need to understand other points of view otherwise you go out of business. You need to be able to sell, manage, lead and persuade on the regular.

On the other hand, HR managers lean left. But while a good HR manager should be able to see things from all perspectives, they won’t lose money if they don’t. It’s a salaried job with low expectations and often entrenched incompetence. What, you want to start the paperwork to document the failures of your HR department? Good luck to you.

Right-leaning jobs tend not to tolerate parasites for long, while left-leaning jobs are where parasites can thrive.

If the woke really had the monopoly on empathy – rather than a lack of it – then they’d already have one. Most conservatives would be out of work.

Folks make mistakes and say dumb things.

It happens.

But when they move in lockstep, making the same mistakes as each other, that’s fascinating.

Like every Mandela effect.

Or when everyone made the same jokes about video game streaming, back when Twitch was a writhing newborn platform. “Who’d want to WATCH someone play video games?” they said, as if watching people play sports and have sex weren’t billion-dollar industries.

Or the religion of Islam.

Here’s an example from 2002. I don’t even know if anyone else noticed it, but I saw half a dozen of different folks from different backgrounds make this same mistake in rapid succession.

Then-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld gave his thoughts. From Wikipedia:

Reports that say that something hasn’t happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns—the ones we don’t know we don’t know. And if one looks throughout the history of our country and other free countries, it is the latter category that tends to be the difficult ones.

It’s an obvious idea, but it was less obvious back then. This simple paragraph coined the phrase “known unknowns” – before then, it was an idea without a catchy label.

But let’s be real, his wording there is clumsy.

So it led to a parade of folks all spouting off the following nonsense over the following months.

“Rumsfeld is an idiot. What a stupid thing to say. So ridiculous. So absurd. Obviously incorrect. I wonder if he has brain damage. And yet, in a strange way, that perfectly describes [insert field of interest].”

Sure – in other words, what he said was smart, relevant and profound. Of course it perfectly describes your field of interest, because it describes every field of interest. But the consensus was that his remarks were dumb, so people had to twist themselves in pretzels.

(History has been kinder. Looking back, folks get what he meant – mostly because they understand it better. At the time, there was a conceptual gap – folks couldn’t grok it, so they assumed it was dumb.)

Luckily, 2002 was the last time the masses mimicked the same stupidity in perfect unison.

Right. Well, that’s a shame, ain’t it? I guess we’re doomed to all follow stupid ideas forever.

That “we” includes you and I.

But with this at your fingertips, you’ll do it a lot less.

That might sound like much… is another example of a common, foolish belief. The wise money knows the value of curbing your mistakes.

Therapy sounds great. You spend time working through your issues, healing your emotional wounds and getting an expert look at your life.

It’s a shame it’s so garbage.

I remember one psych bragging about – with the right client and when the stars align – being able to resolve phobias in as little as six months.

Six months.

Phobias aren’t a small problem, but they’re a simple one. With the right client and the stars align, it shouldn’t take more than six minutes to permanently resolve that.

Now, we Christians tend to be worse sinners than the average. That’s praise for Christianity – it appeals to the worst among us because it saves us.

So when I say that most folks who’re in therapy are crazy, pathetic losers, that sounds hypocritical. Of course they are! Normal folks don’t go to therapy, but crazy, pathetic losers would.

Except if it takes six months, at best, to resolve a phobia, it must take eons to tackle bigger, more complex problems. Stars must flair into existence and then fade into icy oblivion by the time they fix your relationship with your mother.

And I know why.

The vast majority of psych clients are woke. So are the therapists.

Leftist thinking isn’t about resilience, self-reliance or growth. It’s about fairness. It’s about being treated how you want, but not doing anything to earn that treatment.

It’s about observing the problems in society, rather than the problems in yourself.

“Right-wing thinking isn’t much better!”

Debatable, but irrelevant. Therapy shouldn’t be political – it should use proven, effective strategies to help someone thrive in the world.

That, right there, gives genuine personal growth a libertarian bent. Rather than blaming others or settling into your place in the hierarchy, you consider what you have to do to be better.

It’s why my style of coaching draws on Christianity. Christianity has clear and high standards of how you should live. Follow them and you’ll thrive better.
